Fans have suggested Britney has taken a swipe at her mum and sister as she hit out at those ‘closest’ to her who ‘failed to show up’ when she was in need but are now sharing their own opinions online – hours after her relatives shared cryptic message on social media
Britney Spears has lashed out at people she considered ‘closest’ to her who ‘failed to speak up’ in the past regarding her conservatorship – rounding on them for speaking about her now.
The 39-year-old pop star took to social media on Friday to slam undisclosed persons who she seemed to consider have betrayed her by failing to support her at her lowest moment.
Fans have speculated that Britney is cryptically hitting out at her own mother, Lynne Spears, and her younger sister, Jamie Lynn, as her post came hours after they both shared cryptic messages of their own.
Sounding angry, Britney posted a long message on Instagram alongside the image of a quote that reads: “Never forget who ignored you when you needed them and who helped you before you even had to ask.”
Writing in the caption, Britney stated: “There’s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support … there’s nothing worse than that!
“How dare the people you love the most say anything at all … did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the TIME!!!???
“How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE … did you put your hand out when I was drowning? Again … NO.”
She continued: “so if you’re reading this and you know who you are … and you actually have the nerve to say anything about my situation just to save face for yourself publicly!!!
“If you’re gonna post something …. Please stop with the righteous approach when you’re so far from righteous it’s not even funny …. and have a good day!”
Although Britney didn’t name anyone in her outburst, her message came just hours after both her 66-year-old mum and 30-year-old sister shared cryptic messages online amid Britney’s ongoing conservatorship court battle.
Mum Lynne shared quote from the Bible via Instagram on Wednesday – which stated: “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.”
While sister Jamie Lynn appeared to hit out via her own social media page on Thursday, writing: “Dear Lord, Can we end this bull sh#t once and for all,” adding: “Amen.”
And despite Britney failing to identify who she was targeting in her message herself, fans were quick to point the finger at her family members.
One follower wrote in the comments section of Britney’s post: “She’s talking about you Lynne and Jamie Lynn who I can’t tag because they turned off tags because of course.”
Another raged: “jamie lynn spears is shaking in her cowboy boots right now.”
While another suggested the post could have also been directed at Britney’s former boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, writing: “I wonder who this is about LOL. A. Justin Timberlake B. Britney’s mom C. Britney’s sister D. All of the above E. Other.”
Justin previously showed his support for Britney following her heartbreaking testimonial in her conservatorship court battle.
He had dated the singer between 1999 and 2002 and shared a message online after Britney revealed in court that she had contraceptives forced upon her during her conservatorship – which has been in place since 2008 – to prevent her having more children.
Justin wrote: “After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right.
“No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body. No one should EVER be held against their will… or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for.”
